Cellulitis
CELLULITIS
A common bacterial skin infection that can affect any area of the body but most often occurs in the legs or arms. It occurs when bacteria enter through a break in the skin such as a cut, scrape, or insect bite.
SYMPTOMS
Redness or swelling of the skin, warmth and tenderness to the touch, pain or discomfort, tight, shiny, or glassy appearance of the skin, fever or chills, swollen lymph nodes.
TREATMENT
Your provider will plan a customized treatment plan for you that may include topical or oral medications or in severe cases, hospitalization. If left untreated, cellulitis can travel to other parts of the body potentially having serious complications.
