Commonly known as nevi, are skin growths that develop when pigmented cells grow in clusters. They can vary in shape, texture, color, and/or size. While most are harmless, some can develop skin cancer. It is important to monitor moles for any change and to contact your dermatologist if any change arises.

These include but are not limited to the changes in size: Moles that increase in size over time may warrant attention, changes in shape: Moles that become irregularly shaped or have uneven borders may need to be examined, changes in color: Moles that show variations in color, such as darkening or multiple shades, should be assessed, changes in texture: Moles that become raised, develop a rough surface, or start to itch or bleed should be examined by a dermatologist.
