SKIN CANCER

A disease that occurs when the skin cells grow abnormally and uncontrollably. There are three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. While all types of skin cancers can be serious, melanoma is the most dangerous and can spread to other parts of the body if left untreated.

SYMPTOMS

Changes in the appearance of skin such as a mole, birthmark, or other spot on the skin that changes in size, shape, or color. A new growth on the skin, bump or nodule that may be pearly, translucent, or pink. A sore that doesn’t heal or continues to bleed or scab over. It can also include symptoms of itching or pain that can be tender to the touch.

TREATMENT

Your provider at Skin Care Specialists will plan a customized treatment plan for you since all treatments are specific to the type of skin cancer and the severity of it. Treatment will likely involve the removal to remove the cancerous growth with surgery or medication therapy.
